First Day in Dublin

I arrived in Dublin around 8 am local time today, for the first day of our trip here in Europe.  The airport is quite large and modern and it was very easy to navigate through baggage and customs.  I definitely think I packed too much as I started having to carry my baggage!

After about 15 of us arrived, we took the bus to our hotel outside of Dublin.  We were unable to get a room in dublin because the band "Take That" has been playing in the city the last three days, and all the hotel rooms have been sold out and cost more than 300 Euros!

So we have about a 40 minute tram ride outside of dublin to the town of Abberley, which is a nice quiet town. Taking the tram, several of us toured the city before we headed back for our first group meeting. This was a great way for us to get acclimated to the city before everyone else arrived.  We toured around Temple Bar Area and Grafton Street and saw this famous guy below!

It was definitely a surprise to just accidently walk by him on the street. Most of the other street performers were a lot more obvious, and they were also very talented.  The musicians were amazing and played a variety of music.

After our meeting we returned to Temple Bar to eat, and we had a great time at the Old Storehouse Bar.  There was a great live band and the food was well priced.  The appetizers were large and could be eaten as a full meal as well!  Of course their was Guinness and Smithwicks on tap.  The live band played everything from Jerry lee Lewis to Mumford and Sons. Videos will be posted on Facebook.
